The functionality you expect to get from OneNote revolves around notes. You see, you can use this application to easily take any notes you want. You can use this application to conveniently access your notes on all your devices (your notes are synced across multiple platforms via OneDrive). And you can use this application to effortlessly manage and share all your notes.

OneNote is available as part of the Microsoft Office productivity suite.
OneNote is also available as a standalone application. Said application is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Windows Phone, Mac OS X, iOS, Android.
OneNote is also available on the web. You can use OneNote online, in your browser window.

A setup wizard will help you install OneNote on a PC powered by Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Installing OneNote is not enough to get started with this note taking application. If you’re not signed into your Microsoft account, you will have to sign in. So to recap, to get started with OneNote you will have to install OneNote on your PC and you will have to sign into your Microsoft account.

OneNote has a ribbon interface that is quite easy to use. By default, two pages are presented on this ribbon interface: “Onenote: one place for all of your notes” and “OneNote Basics.” These pages are meant to quickly present the functionality you can expect to get from the note taking application.

With OneNote you can take notes that include text, images, links, videos, screenshots, checklists, and other elements. The notes you take are automatically uploaded to the cloud and synced across all your devices. The notes you take can be efficiently managed and they can be easily shared with others.

To sum it up, OneNote provides an excellent means of taking, managing, and sharing notes.

Pros

OneNote is available for multiple platforms: web, Microsoft Office, Windows, Windows Phone, Mac, iOS, Android. OneNote, on a Windows PC, has a user friendly ribbon interface. Take notes that include text, photos, screenshots, and other elements. Notes are synced across all your devices. You can easily share notes with others. OneNote is free software.
